A little over two years ago, Katie Lopes began her career at NextRoll as a Customer Success Account Manager for RollWorks, a division of NextRoll. Since then, she moved up to Senior Customer Success Account Manager and will transition to Senior Product Success Manager this July. Through all her titles, she continues to mentor new hires as a “RollMate,” and helps them adjust to their new careers. We’d say, she’s on quite a roll!

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I really enjoy that I am able to exercise my innate curiosity, resourcefulness, and growth mindset to learn, build strong customer relationships, and partner with cross-functional teams. NextRoll and my RollWorks team, specifically, both foster a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment, which allows me to build great relationships with my teammates, as well as make an impact on the customer experience. I have been fortunate enough to have a wonderful support system that includes my HR Business Partner, my teammates, and my manager. All have played a significant role in my growth and development and have given me the opportunity to take on projects outside of my scope of work.

What does ambition mean to you?

Ambition means consistently striving to better oneself by being open to opportunities, learning from adversity, and pushing yourself outside of your own comfort zone. It’s about having the courage, innovation, resilience, and tenacity to challenge the ordinary while taking risks.

How do you balance work and life?

Work/life balance is something that I have to consciously make choices about and take steps to maintain, as this has always been a challenge for me and has not gotten any easier with everyone working from home. I achieve balance by creating routines for myself during the week, unplugging or snoozing work notifications after logging off for the day, having outside hobbies, setting realistic expectations with customers, and, finally, staying active. I’ve noticed when I improve my work/life balance, I’m more agile with challenging circumstances at work and more productive overall.

What words do you live by?

Approachability, kindness, and being present. It’s very easy to put on headphones, tune out the world, and let your cell phone, tablet, or laptop dictate your life. Striking up real conversations with people who you encounter on a daily basis and being present during those interactions may surprise you. You never know who you’re going to meet, what you might have in common, or the impact you can have on someone’s life. There have been many instances in my own life when the kindness of strangers turned my entire day around.
