AdRoll is opening its doors today in Japan, one of the largest, most exciting ad tech markets in the world. Japan has a well-earned reputation as a leader in internet innovation: the country currently spends $9 billion annually in digital advertising—a third of that on mobile—and it’s growing quickly. Our new Tokyo office, located in the thriving Roppongi district, is our sixth location, including our San Francisco headquarters and regional offices in New York, Dublin, Sydney, and London.

2015-02-24 08.25.40We’re launching AdRoll Japan with a team of industry all-stars, including Makoto Arima as VP and chairman and Luciano Kohmura as managing director. Arima was the first employee at Yahoo! Japan, where he grew the business to a billion dollars in just six years. Most recently, he served as managing director of Google Japan. Kohmura, who will lead day-to-day operations, also joins us from Google, where he served as director of new product sales across Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know the leadership team in Japan, and have been impressed by their vision for bringing AdRoll’s products, service, and culture to Japan.

We will be hiring dozens of new employees in Tokyo over the next year. This local team will provide full-service account management to our Japanese customers. In addition to our on-the-ground Tokyo team, our user-friendly, self-service platform has been fully translated and localized for the Japanese market.

This announcement comes on the heels of a banner year for us here at AdRoll, in which we announced $70 million in funding and reached a milestone of 1,200% year-over-year increase in data processed. We can’t wait to show you more of what we have in store in 2015!

JAPANの第一号社員であり、6年間の在職期間中に取締役として同社を収益十億ドル規模にまで成長させ、直近の4年間はGoogle Japanの代表取締役を務めていました。日常業務を統括する香村もGoogleの出身で、9年間の在職期間中に複数の役職を歴任し、最近では、日本、オーストラリア、ニュージーランドの新製品およびソリューション担当執行役員を務めていました。このリーダー達を徐々に知っていく過程を私は非常に楽しみましたし、AdRoll製品やサービス、文化をどのように日本に提供していくかについて彼らのもつビジョンに感銘を受けました。
